This project began in 1991, when I came to realise that the Christian church does not have in place very much - if anything at all- in the way of prayers or special liturgies to offer parents when a baby has died during pregnancy, as a miscarriage or abortion, or around birth - as a stillbirth or neonatal death.
I wrote two books about the grief suffered by the family when a baby or a young mother dies. I published them myself by Wren Publications, as the project developed.
More and more parents and clergy sent me prayers and specially-created liturgies, so I gathered them together into an anthology called Not out of Mind which was published in 1998 and has sold slowly but consistently ever since.
